Our client, a reputable institution in the education sector, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Officer to support various financial processes and ensure efficient budget execution, financial reporting, payments processing, cash flow/treasury monitoring, and accounts reconciliation.
The Accounting Officer will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and providing valuable insights to support the institution’s financial management.
Responsibilities:
Assist in budget planning and execution, including monitoring expenditures, analyzing variances, and providing recommendations for cost control.
Prepare financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Process payments and invoices, verifying documentation and ensuring timely and accurate payments.
Monitor cash flow and treasury activities, including cash management, forecasting, and reconciling bank statements.
Conduct regular accounts reconciliation to ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure proper financial procedures and controls are followed.
Assist in the preparation of financial statements, tax returns, and other regulatory reports.
Maintain and update the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
Handle payroll processing, including calculations, deductions, and statutory filings.
Assist in the implementation and improvement of financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
Provide support during internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with audit requirements.
Stay updated on accounting regulations and industry best practices.
 
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in accounting, preferably in an educational or similar setting.
Excellent understanding of payroll processes, including calculations, deductions, and statutory requirements.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide meaningful insights.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
Knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CA, CMA) is an advantage.
